Yosemite Photography Trip

I have lived in California since 1982. I have traveled to many places in the US and abroad, but this next week will be my first trip to Yosemite. Funny isn't it, you have such a wonderful place within a few hours yet we travel to other national parks, states and countries.

I have packed my cameras, wide angle and telephoto lenses, memory cards and my tripod and bright and early Easter morning off we go. We are staying about eight miles outside the park (eight miles from the west entrance). The good news and bad news is that that with little snow and rainfall this winter all the primary roads are open and the clear sky's are forecast.

I hope we are blessed with great light and few people - which will give me a chance at a few good pictures. Have a great day and enjoy wherever you travel and photograph

Bird Watching and Photography

It is funny...I have never considered myself a bird watcher, but I have spent hours upon hours attempting to take the perfect picture of a specific bird. Each year I long for the winter months to see the sandpipers and other shore birds to return. The wide variety of ducks geese returning to the bay area marsh lands. One of my favoriate spots is Sandpiper point or the edge of the marsh in American Canyon...both of which are packed with a wide variety of birds.

I recently learned of a great web site to assist me in learning more about birding. San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory is a great resource. They offer a variety of walks, workshops and educational support for birding.

Now don't forget, I am a photographer - not a birder. Okay, I am learning more and more about bird watching and attempting to find a way to share what I discover and document what I see.

Have a wonderful day. More to follow shortly!

How to start???

(2005 photo of Prague Castle)

While this seemed like a good idea now comes the hard stuff. How do you figure out what to say that would be meaningful to anyone but me?

Spring is here in northern CA and the wildflowers are starting to bloom. We haven't had much rain this year so it will be interesting to see how they bloom. I have had good success this year with photographing shore birds around Sandpiper Point. Haven't traveled anywhere yet

this year of real interest but I did get a day in at Point Lobos ( http://pt-lobos.parks.state.ca.us/ ).

I was there about three weeks ago lots of birds but no wild flowers, I wish I had time to go this weekend - bet they are in bloom now!
